This is an urban farm pilot project being conducted with the USDA’s Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education program. The objective of this urban farm project is to grow food in the backyards of city residents using sustainable practices. By using locally available land in the city, this initiative will reduce the transportation costs, storage costs and other costs of getting the food to the dinner table. By reducing costs, the savings are pass on to the consumer. Also, 10 percent of what is grown will be donated to local food shelves. CSA food baskets are available in the form of CSA member shares, or if you cannot commit to the season but would like the freshest fruits and vegetables, you can come by to pick fresh from the farm (U Pick Farm).
